Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Durability Test Results Explained

Samsung has been at the forefront of foldable phone technology for over five years, and its latest model, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, has been well-received for its sleek design and user-friendly interface. Featuring an impressive 8-inch inner display and a robust hinge, Samsung claims it can endure over 500,000 folds. To put this to the test, a South Korean tech YouTuber conducted a live demonstration, manually folding the device 200,000 times to see if it could live up to the company’s durability promises.

Throughout the test, which lasted five and a half hours, the YouTuber noted several key moments. Initially, between 6,000 to 10,000 folds, the device experienced a “forced reboot error.” By the time it reached 46,000 folds, the hinge emitted some creaking sounds, yet functionality remained intact. At 75,000 folds, an “unknown black liquid” leaked from the hinge briefly, while after 175,000 folds, the top and bottom earpieces ceased functioning. Ultimately, after completing 200,000 folds, the inner display showed no dead pixels or major issues, although the crease had deepened slightly. This test suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can withstand regular folding and unfolding, even if it falls short of Samsung’s claims.
